Gov. Pence signed a state budget bill that includes an increase of $474 million in public education funding over the next two years — the largest increase in our state's history. This new budget also takes aim at decreasing the per-student funding gaps that have existed in our state for years.
Indiana has the responsibility of educating our young citizens. We should never have to explain to a parent that their child's education is valued differently by lawmakers based on where they live or the type of school they choose. That is why we support solutions in the state budget bill that decrease the inequity in education funding for kids in every type of school across Indiana. We are grateful to Indiana lawmakers for their commitment to kids.
